Today, Rep. Phil Roe (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after voting in favor of the TRACED Act:

"Robocalls are not just annoying, they can be dangerous. Anyone with a phone has dealt with robocalls, and they disproportionately affect elderly Americans. So far this year there have been270 million robocalls to area code 423 and 174.6 million robocalls to area code 865. This is absolutely absurd. The TRACED Act will help end these scam calls by expanding the FCC's authority to take action against violators, and by requiring service providers like AT&T, Verizon and Sprint to update their authentication technologies so they can identify false calls. I am pleased my colleagues worked together to craft and pass legislation increasing protections against scam calls for all Americans."

Note: Congressman Roe is also a cosponsor of the H.R. 2015, TRACED Act, introduced by Rep. David Kustoff (R-Tenn.), and supported the Stopping Bad Robocalls Act that passed the House in July.
